~ An Hour With You~

The moon peers over the horizon,
Slowly making its debut.
The only thing that I'm missing tonight,
Is,
You.

Crickets serenade me,
In the heat of the night.
Wild roses scent the air,
And fireflies glow bright.

Thoughts of you cloud my mind,
And my feelings for you run deep.
Memories of you are my own,
That's all I have left to keep.

Your love for me has faded,
Like the setting of the sun.
Too soon it was over,
When I thought we had only just begun.

My dreams for you and me,
Are now,
Too painful to recall.
Heartache I will accept,
Then,
To never have loved you at all.

My heart cries silent tears,
Pangs of bitterness I fight.
Before me I dread,
Another sleepless and endless night.

So safe was I
Within your warm embrace.
Abandoned and with empty arms,
Another lonely night I face.

Will the day ever come,
When free like the wind I will be.
And a future without you,
I will begin to see.

I hear the wise old owl,
He,
So much wiser then I.
One day my spirit again,
With him,
Shall soar and fly.

As the moon peers over the horizon,
Slowly making its debut.
The only thing that I'm missing tonight,
Is,
You
