Along the weary journey of life
Filled with trouble and strife
My heart longs for a place
To take refuge from the race
That seems to wear me down
Leaving little heart to go on.

I search here and there
But no one seems to care
And I feel despair
Longing for some relief
From the constant toil and grief
That plague my every step
With no one to help.

When I find myself at the end of my rope,
Desperate with no hope,
A quiet voice I hear
And my Savior speaking soft and clear,
"I am always here like a mother hen
With out stretched wings to gather you in
To protect you from the gathering storm
That threatens harm."

Tears fill my eyes
And my broken spirit cries
Lord, thank You for being here
To remind me how much You care.
I moved close to where
Comfort and peace are found
In the shelter under His wings.
