Fingers long and slender
music to his ears
still a tot in diapers
laughter, salty tears
Holding, giving comfort
strong with his embrace
wiped away her troubles
the memories encased

Delicate 'n feminine
love within her hold
satin and lace attire
wedding bells and gold
Knuckles raw and bloody
tuffened was his skin
worked for little money
when each day began

Tiny little fingers
curled around his own
weeping with a sadness
grandchildren fully grown
Old and frail, with wrinkles
lost the sense of touch
brittle nails discolored
cuticles were rough

Magic in the fingers
his eyes no longer see
pictures of his conscience
painted imagery
Fingers cold 'n grayish
folded 'pon his chest
whispered words to Daddy
hands of time at rest
