~ An Hour
God created man and breathed in him a living soul
Making man in His image
Able to commune with His spirit
So God could hear it.
In the quiet times of life
Our soul is at peace free from strife
With joy permeating our days
And soul whispers of loving praise
To God we raise.
Though our soul may be calm and serene
Our spirit shouts outrage at horror we've seen
Of unspeakable atrocities visited on the innocent
And our soul feels grieved and spent.
Quietly living day by day
Blessings swirl around in ebb and flow
With living water filling our spirit to the brim
So thanksgiving to God in our soul swells
In waves of praise to Him.
The body God created became mortal by sin
That brought the punishment of death
And sorrow of spirit comes again and again
Reminding us of the mortal state we are in
But Christ died in our place so with joy we can reign
Eternal as a child of the King.
God made us a living soul to give Him pleasure
As His greatest creation to bring glory to His name
But not to sin and bring Him shame.
With everlasting love He sent His Son to die
Our soul to reclaim
And a new body with everlasting life in the bye and bye.
Sin brings our soul despair
Which soars with joy when redemption is found
And to its heavenly home takes joyous flight
At the last trumpet sound
For eternal keep
Bowing in worship at the Savior's feet.

And God formed man of the dust of the ground,
and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;
and man became a living soul.
