Words may not come easy
But it only takes a few
Just simple little ones...
"I love you."
And "You are precious to me."
Are words I want to hear
Most precious and dear.

Precious words of encouragement,
"You can do it" let me know
I have the ability within
So I need to let doubt go
And just begin.

Words of compassion heal my broken heart
When you clasp my hand
And say, "I understand.
I am here for you.
What can I do?"

Precious words I long to hear
Letting me know you are near
Wishing to say you love me
And my sweetheart you will always be.

"I am here forever
And will leave you, never."
Are precious words of commitment
On which I can depend
Said when placing on my finger a golden wedding band
Vowing commitment with the words, "I do."
You will have my heart
Until death us do part.

Returning home tired and weary
From a journey distant and far
Fraught with trouble and discouragement
To find open arms and a welcoming smile
Of loved ones who say
"Welcome home, my child.
Hope you're back to stay."
Are precious words to hear.

At the end of life's journey
The most precious words I want to hear
When I close my eyes as my spirit departs
And I come to the pearly gates
I want to hear my Savior say,
"Welcome home My child.
Your eternal home awaits."
