~ An Hour With You~

You were my parent and my friend
Oh, how we laughed together
And talked about our favorite things
But now you’re gone forever

We had so much in common
I was your oldest daughter
You always made time to visit
Come snow or rain or high water

You taught me the love of music
And that laughter’s good for the soul
We picked and grinned together
Your teachings, I still extol

When they told us you wouldn’t live
None of us wanted to hear it
Our Daddy was gone to another place
We now remember you in spirit

I’m thinking of you, Daddy
And all the things that I would say
How we would laugh and reminisce
If you were here today
