God gave the Ten Commandments
Upon that mountain high,
But, to have no other God...
Is that enough for you and I.

For when He said, to love none else
Of wood, or stone, or flesh,
Would He alone be our true love
No other be our quest.

As He unveiled, do not misuse
My Name in all you say,
Do we know those words hurt Him
Though spelt another way.

When He decreed a Sabbath day
Would we make time to rest,
E'er set aside a Holy Day
So we could Praise Him best.

Or, did we keep the Fifth Command
To honour parents well,
That we may hearken to their wisdom
And live the tale to tell.

Would Commandment Six be just too hard
To never murder all,
When to dislike someone
Meant all of us would fall.

Might lust condemn in Number Seven
When adultery's in the mind,
And in keeping something, even little
Is it stealing every time.

False testimony, we're bound to do
For truth has many shades,
To lie in speech, in silence too-
We're doomed, whichever way.

And coveting, in that we're stumped-
For every time we gaze,
We wish for such a lovely thing
To liven up our days.

So, why did God upturn us so
With such condemning list?
Oh Yes, but here's the greatest joy,
We find His Law - a gift!

A gift, to help us understand
The amazing God we have,
Who lives within a heaven pure-
One that we sorely crave.

And all these Laws He wrote on stone
Were but a set of rules,
To drive us to salvation-
Like Masters in a school.

To make us come to realize
There is no good in us,
We cannot keep, e'en One Command,
So to the Lord must come.

Accept His gift of death for us,
Admit our raging guilt,
And give our sin to Jesus Christ
So, He, our life can fill.

He said we cannot do it,
So in Him we need to be,
Then all His strength, His heart, His mind
Is ours eternally.

Then God will look on you and I
Accepted in the Son,
When all God sees is, Christ in us,
We're safe within His Love.

Galatians 3:13,14,23,24
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by
becoming a curse for us, He redeemed us...through
Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive
the promise of the Spirit. Before this faith came,
we were held prisoners by the law,
locked up until faith should be revealed.
So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ
that we might be justified by faith.
Now that faith has come, we are no longer
under the supervision of the law.
