Oh, my luve’s like a red, red rose,
That ’s newly sprung in June;
Oh, my luve’s like the melodie
That’s sweetly played in tune.
Robert Burns

A friend gave me a cutting from his Rose bush
He just stuck it in the ground and said, "just let it be,
Put a jar over it the first Winter, it will need protection
It will grow strong and sturdy, you will see."

Just before frost I saw some tiny green sprigs
I remembered the jar I knew what I had to do,
I placed it over the plant to protect it
During frigid temperatures while cold winds blew.

In the Spring here came that little bush
It was bright green and healthy as could be,
Soon it brought forth beautiful Roses
That enhanced my table ever so gracefully.

There always seemed to be a Rose on the bush
They came even after blooming season had passed,
Their beauty brought me so much pleasure
A sweet fragrance and an aura of love they cast.

I heard about a woman living all alone
She had no one, friends or family,
I wanted to show her love and kindness
I wanted God to shine through me.

I wondered, read and asked
What word, or item would represent love the most?
I looked outside my window
There it was, on the bush, The Rose, it seemed to boast.

I clipped the flower and a bud
Placed it in a tall small vase,
Hurriedly down the road I traveled
I felt elated; my heart was in a happy place.

When I handed her the Rose
She wiped away teardrops from her eyes,
She held out her hand and she said, “Thank You,
Roses represent love, and love heals a heart that cries."

Thank You God for making Roses
And the beauty they bring about,
Roses have mended many broken hearts
They deserve a special place, honor, and clout.
