I had a dream tonight when everything was pitch dark,
That I was on a ship that had already embarked
Upon a journey. One I didn't want to begin.
As this sailing vessel was filled with my deepest sin.

The ship tossed upon black waters that would make it nearly sink,
For on board this vessel was each bad thing I'd do or think.
And no work on my part could carry me to port or shore.
Because I had no pardon-no one to lead me ore.

In despair I went in circles on this ship filled with sin.
Until I finally let all go, and gave my life to Him.
And as the boat tossed and turned on the black and sinful sea,
Ahead I saw an island where stood the saving Cross of Calvary.

The island blazed with the Savior's Glory bright
How wondrous was the Cross unto my weary sight!
My eyes fixed on Him, I cast away my sin!
As the sea grew calm all hope on Him I pinned.

The ship drew nearer to the shore, waves went high, ridge on ridge,
When to my joy and sweet delight, the Cross became a Bridge.
I stepped onto the Cross, my steps no longer weak.
Then I heard the voice of Jesus, so gently He did speak.

He said, "My child, I welcome thee. All thy sins are left behind."
No longer was I on a sinking ship of sin. I had finally let my Master in!

Praise the Lord for His salvation.
Amen.
