Within these lofty mountains,
And in the deep, dark hollows,
The trees are filled with color.
Summer is over, Autumn follows.

Air is steeped with fragrance,
Such a sweet perfume!
Summer heat has left us
With skies of deepest blue.

We celebrate the seasons' change.
The colors and scents of Fall.
Breathing deeply, eyes open wide
To the biggest color show of all.

The smell of wood smoke in the air.
Of sweet, red apples, too.
Catching sight of deer and squirrel,
Bolder now, easier to view.

The Hickory trees stand out
With their many shades of gold.
Maple trees send down their leaves,
Their green Summer tale now told.

It is a time to close in,
To slow the pace without guilt.
And watch the sunlight lift and dance
Over God's glorious patchwork quilt.

Take the time to catch it.
It will be gone in no time at all.
Enjoy each day with quicker pace.
To capture all there is of Fall.
