Summer is passing fast,
Harvest will soon be here.
Corn stalks will be pulled up,
And piled up as we cheer.

It's been a long hot summer,
Breaking heat throughout the land.
Too hot to be outside,
On the beaches in the sand.

The pumpkins are looking great,
And the butternut squash just right.
Maybe if I ask my mom,
She'd bake some squash tonight.

Sweet potatoes are yet to be dug,
They are always sweet and good.
Just bake until they're done,
Add a little butter, as you always should.

Watermelons are good this year,
Large and sweet and ripe,
Like big round tempting fruit,
That entice some to steal at night.

Peas and beans were picked,
Shelled and canned in jars,
And soap was made from hog fat,
And molded into bars.

Life has become much easier,
Than it was in those days.
We've become some what spoiled,
With all our modern ways.

No more wash tubs to bathe in,
Most have indoor plumbing now.
No more heating water on the stove,
It's easier to take a shower.

I've tried to count my blessings,
But I couldn't count that high.
They are much too numerous to count,
They'd have to reach the sky.

We fail to give the credit,
To the one who gave us this,
But always remember if not for Him,
All these blessings we would miss.
