Have you ever watched the
dawning,
As the sun came over the hill,
And as you sat there yawning,
The world seemed so peaceful and still?
Now and then the silence might be broken,
By the call of a morning bird,
Or the crowing of a nearby rooster.
These are sounds I’ve often heard.
Have you ever seen a Mother Robin,
Come bobbing along,
Searching for a tasty earthworm,
To feed her hungry throng?
Have you ever watched a Mother Hen,
Gather her chicks together,
And see her carefully hover over them,
To shield them from the weather?
Have you ever marveled at the colors of a
rainbow,
Or the design of a butterfly?
Have you ever stood and gazed on a clear day,
At white clouds in a beautiful blue sky?
Have you ever walked through a meadow,
With green velvet beneath your feet?
Have you ever waded barefoot through a lazy
stream?
No? Then you have missed a treat.
Have you ever laid on your back at night,
And stared at the beautiful stars,
And become amazed at how close they seemed,
Though they were really very far?
Have you ever watched a busy ant,
And be filled with utter surprise,
At how it “moved that mountain,”
That was many times its size?
Have you ever picked a tender rose,
And enjoyed its beauty and smell?
Have you ever tasted cool refreshing water,
Drawn with a rope and bucket from a well?
Have you ever watched a hummingbird,
Extracting nectar from a flower,
And wondered exactly how many times,
It’s wings moved in an hour?
Have you ever wondered why God above,
Would make the Earth, sea, and sky,
And give us all these things to enjoy?
Friend, at times I’ve wondered why.
Have you ever laid in your bed at night,
And thought about God and man.
Have you wondered why He would send His Son,
To implement Salvation’s Plan?
Friend, the reason God sent His Son,
To die on a Rugged Tree,
Was because of the undying love,
He has for you and me.
