The sun has set and darkness falls,
The stars shine in the sky,
Another day is finished,
And the moon lights up the sky.
I sit beside a cozy fire,
That warms me with its glow,
And I start to remember,
Wonderful times so long ago.
I call to mind my family and friends,
Not with me anymore,
I know that they are waiting,
On some happy distant shore.
I hear their voices calling,
An echo from the past,
I am thinking about yesterday,
And those times that could not last.
I see my Mother's beauty,
And my Father's special smile,
Oh how I wish I could go back,
For just a little while.
I see each friend and playmate,
As we wandered through each day,
Never thinking that these special times,
Would eventually fade away.
A sadness overwhelms me,
And a tear falls from my eye,
As I sit here and remember,
The days that have gone by.
We lived and laughed together,
What a precious memory,
Tucked deep inside my heart and soul,
Where only I can see.
