Down at the end of,
A long winding lane,
You will find a place,
I visit time and again.

An old house once,
Filled with glee,
I still go there when,
From reality I flee.

My mind takes me back,
To my youthful times,
Happiness reigns with,
Childhood rhymes.

A once lovely home,
Sitting high on a hill,
Kids laughing and playing,
Life was one big thrill.

Brothers and Sisters,
Play jump rope and marbles,
Go fishing and hunting,
Life was full of marvels.

Mama in the kitchen,
Cooking superb meals,
Daddy out plowing in,
The cotton and corn fields.

Neighbors came a vis'tin,
Kids tagging along,
Knew games were waiting,
Surely a place they belong.

Happy times were numerous,
Smiles and giggles rang aloud,
The more that came to join us,
Found a welcoming crowd.

I look at the vines growing,
Blocking the window's view,
Recall the love I found there,
Bringing happiness anew.

Oh memory you mean so much,
You have fulfilled your part,
Giving when the need is there,
To bring smiles to my heart.
