There's a bridge of life a little heart must cross
It spans a seething flow,
That bubbles, churns o'er jagged rocks
Coursing high or sometimes low.

Gingerly, she takes some steps-
Not feeling very bold,
Seeming stable, she walks on
In hopes, that it will hold.

Oh, where will this great crossing lead,
What will the days unfold,
Friendship, ventures, fame and glory,
Riches of pure gold.

Will life smile sweet upon her heart,
Delightful romance send,
As onward twirls her little feet,
How will the story end.

She picks a rose while passing through,
Sweet, pressed against her soul,
Each day is holding expectation
Of hopes that have been told.

Musing flight, dream on a dream,
How fly on angel's wings,
To bring a joy unto the world,
Her lips, say lovely things.

Oh, let her play now while she can
Before life will weigh her down,
Let her prance in softness now
While hearing pretty sounds.

Show her wonders that surround
With touch of angel kiss,
Soon enough, she shall find-
All will not be bliss.

A myriad of talents pour,
Adventure, diverse things,
The bridge holds untold glitter,
For the light relief it brings.

Time comes, when life's a whirl,
Bridge building with pinewood,
Deep foundations laying down
That coming days be good.

A direction will be chosen, then
Decisions for life's course,
Steps go forward, finding paths,
Much guidance forming choice.

Some friends will seek to care,
While others yell, abuse,
Some will laugh and bring her joy
Then turn and lash and bruise.

That hurt will push her stumbling
Close to the dangerous edge,
Then where the help for her soft heart
To pull from scary ledge.

What darkness there, avoid it yet,
Not something to be seen,
Life can hold too much to bear,
Come, dance again, all fancy free.

But, years pass on, blown by wind
Time, won't be standing still,
Waters pass beneath the bridge,
As days with memory fill.

Touching lives, a nurture shared,
Loss borne and sorely grieved,
The heart o'er flows with kith and kin,
What of herself to leave.

Does time thus need to shatter dreams
Why can't youth stay with bloom-
Stop age and all it's ravage,
Weaving lines upon life's loom.

Where, oh where, is refuge found
So smiles will warm her heart,
How can the dove of peace remain,
Her soul not rend apart.

Then, one day comes, she sees ahead
Two paths, two different ways,
One turning down to darkness, cold,
The other up, to sunshine rays.

How will she safely find new life,
Her eyes seek guiding light,
How can she reach the other side,
Not fall in darkest night.

Oh, there arms wide, The cross stands high,
She kneels, to pass within,
Leaves every heartbreak there within,
E'er freed of all her sin.

Release spills from her tender heart
With glow of lasting love,
A forever family now is hers
From her dear Lord above.

She now will rise on angel's wings
A snow white dove to fly,
A princess fashioned for The King
To reign with Christ on high.

Kept by His power, life's bridge e'er crossed
No more to be alone,
The Lord will be, all that she needs
To bear her safely home.
