Braying and
Baying
Bark! Bark! Bark!
Late in the night...
Well, it was hours past dark.
Go to the back,
Yell "Dogs Please Hush!"
Doesn't do any good
They will not shush.
Thinking it's a raccoon
They are bellering at.
It turns out to be
The ol' tom cat!
"Get Out Of Here!"
We now start to yell.
Has no affect.
Louder they wail!
The hunters are sitting
In their truck so warm,
Thinking a 'coon
Caused the howling storm!
Needing sleep, so tired
We go on to bed
With Whoo! and Woof!
Filling our heads!
Finally fed up
To the window I creep
"Get Out Of Here!
We Need To Sleep!"
We hear a truck,
We see their lights.
"Heah! Heah!" they call.
The dogs run out of sight!
Back into bed once more,
Peace restored at last!
The ol' tom comes out of the tree.
Another threat has past!
I can just picture
Those dogs, now so beat.
Asleep in their chairs
After good food and a treat!
