Once upon a hillside far away,
Shepherds heard the angels say,
"Christ the Saviour is born!"
So, with their hearts aflame,
To Bethlehem they came,
To behold Him on that first Christmas morn!
There they found the Christ child asleep,
Surrounded by cattle and sheep.
God's gift to mankind was wrapped in swaddling clothes!
Oh, why would Jesus be born just to die,
For the likes of you and I?
The answer only God in Heaven knows.
However, in the Holy Scriptures I find,
God had it in His mind,
To redeem the lost human race!
With our good deeds it could never be done.
God had to sacrifice His Son.
Oh, what a matchless and marvelous grace!
