It's so much fun to play make believe,
Mom's shoes are just the thing.
I get my dolly from her carriage,
And rock her as I'd sing.
I play with my new dishes
And make mud pies for a fancy lunch,
It took me a little while,
For there was quite a bunch.
My best friend Amy,
And Joey came by too.
Then Mom and Dad dropped in,
To see what I can do.
Quite a feast was going on,
We had way more than enough.
We enjoyed our day together,
But the cooking was pretty tough.
Mom saved the day with lemonade,
And we sat and cooled a while,
But then the dishes must be washed,
As Mom just sat and smiled.
I placed the baby in the buggy,
And took her for a walk,
I ask her if she wanted to go back,
Gee, I wish that she could talk.
Mommie's shoes were killing me,
And my day had been so long,
I was ready for a break myself,
Ready to go home.
Joey skipped out on me,
When time to clean the mess,
Of course that's what guys do,
Or that's the way I guess.
Now my hands are gritty,
And my clothes are dirty too.
But at least my feet feel good,
I discarded Mommie's shoes.
It's been a great big day,
I'm tired and sleepy too,
I think I'll take a little nap,
Tomorrow is back to school.
