Spring is on its way,
With sunshine and fun.
Just a few more days till Spring,
And to the beach we'll run.

Jonquils have blossomed,
Plum trees in full bloom,
And house cleaning I've begun,
To freshen up my rooms.

I soon can open up the doors
As Spring and Summer begins,
And open up my windows,
And let the fresh breeze in.

Children can go and play outside,
And release that built up energy,
They've had to hold inside all Winter,
Which is a relief to me.

I guess I was a spunky kid,
Just like everyone else,
But to see them run and jump that way,
I just don't see myself.

I do remember the four leaf clovers,
We use to find with joy,
But most of all the fun I had,
Was with my home made toys.

Blocks of wood we'd pretend,
Was our car and roads made in the dirt,
But we had all we needed,
And not often were we hurt.

I remember the old tire swing,
Hanging from the Chinaberry tree.
It's gone now but not forgotten,
I still can see from my memories.

I sometimes wish I could go back,
And see that old home place,
But then I'm quite content I guess,
As I've slowed down a pace.

There is nothing in this world,
Like memories to keep us young,
Maybe not in years so much,
But just memories of fun.

But age does have its benefits,
When family comes to Sunday dinner.
We talk and play games,
And in fun, we choose a winner.

The Dogwood trees are just now budding,
Soon they will be covered with white.
When the blossoms open up,
Is when fishing is said to be just right.
