A little bird
came, sat by me,
Close, there within the tree,
He cocked his head, hopped to and fro
And chirped contentedly.

I didn't know, why he should come,
Why he might visit me,
But, this I knew, 'twas very precious,
I thought so gratefully.

And then I smiled, my God should send
To me, His little friend,
I felt more love, more hope, delight,
Than I could comprehend.

For little birds, made by His hand
Are purely of God's heart,
So when one comes, all heav'n they bring,
Of God alone, impart.

Thus blessed, I smiled, my God should send
To me, His little friend,
I felt enriched, embraced, enamoured so,
Oh yes, on my God I can depend.

Poetry from the Heart

"How can I but be still, and know that He is
God;
How can I not exalt his glorious name
each moment that I live."
