They may serve on home soil
or foreign lands afar
leaving friends and loved ones
as they march off to war
Even during peace time
they've got jobs to do
believe in peace and freedom
they'll fight for me and you
Side by side in combat
shed bloody sweat and tears
paving our safe haven
on land, in air, by sea
Korea and the World Wars
or maybe Vietnam
Persian Gulf with Sudam
Iraq, Afghanistan
America the beautiful
stands for liberty
protected by our Soldiers
to keep this Nation free
Heart swells with pride and honor
for warriors, the brave
with love, respect for service
for them Old Glory waves
Pay tribute to our Veterans
they've answered duties call
fought for peace, our freedom
some gave some, some all
Recognition was given to the ending of World War
I fighting at 11 a.m.
November 11, 1918 (the 11th hour of the 11th day
of the 11th month). The
day became known as "Armistice Day."
Armistice Day officially received its name in
America in 1926 through a
Congressional resolution. It became a national
holiday 12 years later by
similar Congressional action.
In 1954 President Eisenhower signed a bill
proclaiming November 11th as
Veterans Day, a day to honor those who have
served America in all wars.
I proudly salute our Vets past, present and
future and offer my heartfelt
thanks for their part in making America our land
of the free...
