A neighbor, for a few years
Seemed like such a nice guy
That is until we found out
How he made our little girl cry

We trusted this person
He was made welcome in our home
He said he loved children
And someday wanted his own

He's locked away now
For a very long time
What was done to our little girl
Was a horrendous crime

The tears come daily
From her beautiful blue eyes
There was much betrayal
His decision was not wise

May God make us more wary
Of all that is around
Danger lurks most anywhere
In any part of town

It will take a lifetime
To repair the damage that's been done
Let's make our laws stronger
Keep the perpetrators on the run
