Today I look at your letters
And valentine cards stowed away
Tied with pink ribbons
Tattered and frayed.

I read the words of love so sweet
And remember once again
Your words of love to me
Vowing your love for me would always be.

Your valentines were the sweet
Old fashioned kind
With lacy hearts and cupids
And ribbons all entwined.

Bringing little words of love
That would never grow old
From a heart that was mine then and always
Mine "to have and hold"!

I remember the things we shared
The joy we had and ways we cared
And how you were never good
At sweet phrases and such
But knew you loved me very much.

Our love was made of little things...
Quiet moments that life brings,
Special smiles and words
That our two hearts knew.

Understanding of forgiving and of caring
Human tenderness our hearts showed...
Love made of knowing someone through and through
The way I knew and loved you.

Today I borrow words from your valentines
And remember your love that was mine
For they are the only valentines for me
Since that day goodbye you would say
And close your eyes as you slipped quietly away.

We were faithful since the day we were wed
And raised our family with love and devotion.
Now I am left with memories sweet
Of love we shared back then
Looking for a heavenly reunion
Where we can share our love once again.
