Oh, how I
love those grand old hymns.
They mean so much to me,
Like "Amazing Grace," "Just As I Am,
" And "Nearer My God To Thee."
Those beautiful songs from my childhood,
When I was just a boy,
How oft they have brought tears to my eyes,
And filled my heart with joy!
I've sung them in Church with those I love,
And sung them when I was alone.
And with the help of God above,
I'll sing them 'til I reach Home.
Friend, I'm not knockin' our modern songs.
They're beautiful. This I know.
But not many of them can compare to,
"Where The Healing Waters Flow."
Are any as beautiful as "Victory In Jesus,"
Or " I Need Thee Every Hour?"
Or as jubilant as "He Abides,"
And "Pentecostal Power?"
"What A Friend," "At The Cross,"
And "Glory To His Name,"
Have given me inspiration,
And set my heart aflame.
I long to hear "I'm One Of Them,"
And "Softly And Tenderly " again.
Who penned the words to "Oh Happy Day?"
It's been my life-long friend.
I've been uplifted and gladdened,
With each note, each word, and each part.
Yes, I like to sing the Old Songs,
For they're so dear to my heart.
