When I was young and innocent
I fell in love with you a dashing young man,
You became my partner in life.
I adored you. I was your biggest fan.
You were loyal kind and gentle
Your priority, dream and biggest plan,
Was to make a good life for us
Knowing this, I fell in love all over again.
We became parents, a mom and dad
You played with our children, with face aglow.
I know how much you loved them
“Umm what a man,” and I loved you so.
Each day you would head off to work,
You always turned and lingered at the door,
You would just stand there and smile
A kiss is what you were waiting for.
As I watched you walk away
With lunch box in hand,
Pride swelled up inside me.
And I fell in love all over again.
The children are grown
From the nest they have flown,
We’re still here together
My, how fast those years have gone.
When I look across the room
I see such a handsome older man,
As I am walking toward you
I’m falling in love all over again.
