Glorious colors
bright red, yellow, brown
leaves dance a ballet
in crisp. satin gowns
Birds have flown South
their singing has hushed
flowers lay comatose
'neath blankets of rust
Squirrels keep busy
gathering their food
reflections of Winter
arriving too soon
Trees standing naked
awaiting first snow
Autumn's breath sighs
wearing nightie of gold
The clock ticks away
in stillness of night
Suzie snowflake arrives
her garments, pure white
Roadways and sidewalks
show mirrored displays
mountains wear snowcaps
on cold, dreary days
The fireplace glowing
warm cocoa in hand
outside, wind is whistling
its uncertain chant
Everything eerie
with each crackling sound
off in the distance
shadows tiptoe around
Time slowly passes
as day turns to night
stars shiver in clusters
from mean Winter bite
Seasons change quickly
we welcome them all
but none can compare
to the wonders of Fall...
