I think about my childhood
Living home with Mom and Dad
The memories are wonderful
Happy and yet sad
My Mother in the kitchen
Or hanging clothes out on the line
My Dad out in the garden in the Summertime
The warmth from our old wood stove
When Winter came to call
The aroma of the burning leaves
When we cleaned up in the Fall
The beautiful lilacs
Their scent filled the air
The lovely pink rose bush with petals so fair
The big maple tree with its welcoming shade
Oh wonderful memories that never will fade
Our family together
Blessed with kindness and love
A most precious gift from God up above
The years passed by quickly
Mom and Dad are not here
But the memories grow sweeter
With each passing year
