Don't you just love the Winter time,
When all is frosty and white?
I like to look outside when dark,
It looks so cold but bright.
I can see the neighbor's Children also,
Enjoying the snow and sled.
They'll stay out as long as Mom will let them,
Right up till time for bed.
They will sleep as sound as a kitten,
Because they played so hard.
It's best they be outside,
Playing in the yard.
The exercise is good for them,
And keeps them off the streets,
All you have to do to make them happy,
Is serve them little treats.
The trees are white with snow and ice,
They have that Wintry glow,
And children's snowmen built with pride,
While they enjoy the snow.
I like to watch them throwing snowballs,
As I sip a cup of tea,
Their energy they now have,
Is what I use to be.
But I enjoy their laughter,
As they run and slide around,
Soon the snow will melt away,
And there is only ground.
So why not let them be a kid,
They will grow up much too fast,
And then you'll wonder where the time went,
As you dwell upon the past.
I want them to have a childhood,
That brings them memories of home,
When they all leave the nest,
And they are on their own.
It's kind of sad to think about,
But after all that's life,
They will have their own home,
And a husband or a wife.
You really wouldn't have it any other way.
Than being a Granny and Pop,
So nice to have those grand kids come.
I hope that never stops,
I'm going to close my thoughts,
And fix some good hot food,
For when they're tired of playing,
They're in an eating mood.
