I have a desire in my heart,
To do my best each day,
To lighten someone’s burden,
That life has sent their way.

I want to make my life worthwhile,
And do the best I can,
To help someone that needs it,
And be to them a friend.

If I could lighten your pain I would,
Or help you in anyway.
To make your life more easy,
As you go along life’s way.

If I could only touch your heart,
To let you know I care,
Enough to talk to Jesus,
And keep you in my prayers.

I have no riches to give to you,
Only an outreached hand,
And walk closely beside you,
And try to understand.
