Our land is everything to us...
I will tell you one of the things we remember on our land.
We remember that our grandfathers paid for it - with their lives."

~John Wooden Legs, Cheyenne

Our red brothers and sisters have been forgotten
But they have not forgotten

They took our land and gave us nothing
They took our land and left us to die
They took our land we'd lived on forever
Not caring that our families were here

They were many and more kept coming
but we fought until we could fight no more
They made us promises and they were broken
Hoping that we would be no more

Now hundreds of years have passed since then
And we have grown stronger and soon we will win

Know what I say is true, just look around you
Our rivers are dying, the skies are polluted too
We lived with Mother Earth for we are her children
My friend we would have shared all this with you

Perhaps some day the earth will not take it
And she will again renew
