As we enjoyed breakfast today
An elderly gentleman came in
He was carrying a single flower
And he was seated with two more men

He had rode up on a motorcycle
With a sidecar attached
That's where the flower had lain
Now in his hand it was clutched

He laid it gently on the table
Now my curiosity began to rise
I asked the waitress, "What's the story?"
While she talked, tears came to her eyes

"Bill and Maggie were very close
They held hands everywhere they went
He gave her a flower daily from the start
His love for her, he truly meant"

"She passed away a month ago
And Bill still gives her flowers every day
He brings one to breakfast and leaves it
With tears streaming as he walks away"

The sadness in his eyes are so plain to see
He climbs on his cycle, the sidecar empty
Quietly rides out of sight, wiping his eyes
One can't help but feel lots of empathy

His love for her is so plain to see
As he strives to keep her memory fresh
If one didn't know different, you'd think
Maggie was still here in the flesh
