An Hour With You~*~We Can't Forget~*~

 WE CAN'T FORGET
(by Jerry Morris©)

As I stand here in the rubble
With bloodstains on my face
Searching through the ashes
Of the tragedy that just took place

Pain heavy on my shoulders
And it's not physical pain
But pain of what has happened
It's pain of such great loss

Spirits of friends who have died but
Never will be forgotten
I didn't know all of them
But I feel like I did

Though Americans and
friends of mine
Who innocently paid the cost
The cost of freedom
The price of being free
Such a price they had to pay
It takes a toll on me

Heroes rise above the ashes
Some faces I've never seen before
So many gave their lives today
Their loved ones will see no more

I listened to what our leader had to say
And I fully agree
This act of such cowardly terror
We must all take heed
To search out the devil demons
Who are responsible for this
To show them the mighty power
Of freedom's clenched fist

Sometimes the cost of freedom
And the price of being free
Such a price they had to pay today
It takes it's toll on me

As heroes rise above the ashes
Some faces I've never seen before
So many gave their lives today
Their loved ones will see no more

We can't forget!
We can't forget!
And I won't forget!

September 11, 2001

The song is stark realism of America's
reaction to the attack of 9-11-2001.
It was written that night
and was recorded in one session.
We tried to deliver this song to radio,
television stations, Detroit Symphony Orchestra
and all types of officials. A copy was given to the
Michigan Senator for delivery to President Bush.
We do not know if it was ever delivered.
