When old Daniel did well and was blessed
by the Lord
His peers were jealous indeed
They sought to find fault with the faith he
adored
And lied, so he wouldn’t succeed
They said to the King, please sign a great thing
That controls what each person can do
That will make it a crime when they have a
prayer time
That they only can pray to you
So the King made a law and he signed it that day
And it could not be altered or changed
Daniel heard of the law and yet followed God’s
way
For he knew what was planned and arranged
He prayed in his room as he’d done before
With wide open windows and blinds
He thanked the Lord that he couldn’t ignore
As his critics were losing their minds
They rushed to the King and with glee they did
sing
That old Daniel had broken the rules
He’d gone on his way, praying three times a day
With honor and truth as his tools
The King was dismayed with the law he had made
For he now found himself in a bind
The word was now out so he couldn’t back out
He must act on the things had signed
Old Daniel was taken and thrown in a den
Where the lions were waiting for him
But Daniel was one of God’s Miracle men
And stood strong when the going was grim
Then the King returned to his palace and bed
But he tossed and he turned through the night
He was really afraid that his friend might be
dead
For doing a thing that was right
But early next morning he ran to the den
And cried out in much anguish and pain
Did God in His goodness protect you my friend
From the lions and the stress and the strain
Then the King heard a voice that was filled with
great cheer
“Live forever, your Majesty”
God sent down an angel who made it quite clear
That those lions would never touch me
God closed all their mouths and made them rest
And He brought me safely through
I’ve always found in every test
That this is the thing He will do
