~ An Hour
My mother taught me...
Love is a personal thing
To hold close to your heart
And happiness it will bring
Expressed in the songs you sing.
Loyalty is a precious gift
Grounded in love you feel
For those who fill your life
Showing you will always be there
Because you care.
Pride is basic to success
Pride in a job well done
Using ingenuity and perseverance from inside
And talents that are God's gift
To be used with honor and pride.
A gentle and humble spirit
Is more beautiful than beauty of face
For it has a special grace
Sought by others to embrace.
Joy comes from a contented heart
Committed to a loving Lord
In your daily walk
More important than eloquent talk.
Industry and thrift are basic to life
Keeping busy and avoiding waste
To make a home free from strife
As a mother and wife.
Love is gentle and kind
Shared with those who are mine
Affirming work well done
By children each and every one.
Love and devotion for your spouse brings
And crucial to marriage success
With honor given to husband as the head
And the wife as the helpmate by his side
Following what God's Word said.
Love of God makes life complete
And His presence makes life sweet.
Follow God's command to speak that which is true
And let only kind and loving words come from
Tears of sad remembrance in my eyes swell
With love and honor for the example my mother
Guiding my path along life's way.
Even though many years she has been gone
I remember she taught me well.
