The Perfect Gift

Once again it's that time of year
when we celebrate Your birthday.
Our hearts are filled with cheer,
as we think of all Your loving ways.

We hang the lights, trim the tree,
put out the cherished manager scene.
Shepherds bowed down on bended knee,
for their King, they knew they'd seen.

Wise men searched for You from afar
bringing gifts of frankincense and myrrh.
High in the sky shone a bright star
that lit the way to where You were.

God looked down at us from above.
He wanted to give the perfect gift,
for His heart was filled with love.
He sent Jesus, all our sins to lift.

Jesus, I give You my heart anew
and ask You use me for Your glory,
in me, let Your mercy flow through,
so that others may know Your story.

Like the star that shone so bright,
still so many are seeking for You,
so fill me with Your perfect light.
In me, may they find Your love so true.

For You said if in You they believe,
they'd have abundant life forevermore.
Guide lost and wounded souls to receive
all the wondrous love You have in store.
