Now That Autumn Is Officially Here

Leaves are falling to the ground!
Night winds make an eerie sound!
Summer flowers all disappear,
Now that autumn is officially here!

Golden pumpkins stacked in a pile,
Wait for someone to carve them a smile!
Overhead wild geese flying South appear,
Now that Autumn is officially here!

The ring of a hammer fills the air,
As buildings receive much needed repair!
Tis a busy time of year,
Now that Autumn is officially here!

It's time to harvest corn and soybeans,
And use storm windows instead of screens!
Winter's around the corner! Have no fear,
Now that Autumn is officially here!

There are shorter days and a longer nights,
And folks have to burn their outside lights!
Life seems "to shift into a lower gear,"
Now that Autumn is officially here!

Hayrides and wiener roasts are in store,
Along with church bazaars and fairs galore!
These type of activities reappear,
Now that Autumn is officially here!
