My heart sings for this
New day
Let not my mind stray
From You I pray
For sometimes my thoughts
Fly like birds to other places
Often fleeting moments to engage
With a plague of horrid faces.

But then I whisper take these
From my mind Jesus my Lord
And You come and swipe them
With Your loving sword
Then I know that the demons
Are no more
And I am safe Lord in Your
Arms as before.

Protect me from past fears
Deep within my soul
So I can keep thy name
Within life's goal
Now I can sing in hope
As to go about Your way
For my heart leaps to this
Another precious day.
