Our steps aren't as
spry as they used to be,
And our wit may be marginal at best.
We may not have that same get up and go,
But with each other we still are blessed.
Together we have shared good times,
And yes we have shared a tear or two.
We've had some differences of opinions,
And we've always managed to work them through.
If you need me just to listen,
I'll be there with opened ears.
And if you ever need encouragement,
I'll be the loudest voice that cheers.
When you are feeling lonely,
And perhaps a little blue.
I'll go get the ice cream,
I'll even help you eat it too.
My secrets you could always keep,
And there is nothing that I can't tell you.
There are times we didn't have to say a word,
What the other was thinking we just knew.
Reminiscing of old times when we were young,
For hours we sit around and chat.
About all the trouble we'd get into,
And now we can't help but laugh at.
However some things never change,
Even though we're old and gray.
We still have tea parties and milk and cookies,
Go for walks on a rainy day.
Our friendship is tried and true,
Young at heart we'll always be.
I'll always be here for you,
And I know you'll always be there for me.
I call you just to say hello,
At the beginning of each new day.
When I'm really just checking in,
To make sure that you're doing okay.
Yes over time we have grown older,
And our friendship has grown to.
I could never image one single day going by,
Ever talking to you.
Every night I call,
Just to say good night to you.
And in the morning we'll plan our day,
Of what together we're going to do.
I want you to always know,
That for the rest of my time I do intend.
To be right here for you,
My Forever Friend
