A tree lined
avenue is dedicated to the memory
Of those who served their country for freedom's
Leaving behind home and family...baby and wife
To fight for the cause of freedom for all
With many laying down their life.
They served their country well
And the hardship for them none would tell
But gave all they had within
To fight the evil foe bent on the conquest
Of freedom from men to wrest.
Success followed the efforts of valiant men
Who returned to their homeland
Changed forever by the horror
Of seeing their fellow men struggle to win
With some paying with their life.
Ultimately the enemy was defeated
And the conquering heroes returned to their
A monument was dedicated to their stand.
The ones never to return
Are not lost to our memory
And will forever remain part of history.
