It's time to start the new year
Leaving behind the sorrow
Of memories from the past
And look toward a new tomorrow
With happiness and cheer
And new memories to make this year.

Leave behind the baggage
That would hold you down
With pain and dross
Because of all your loss
But bring along memories blessed and sweet
For those are precious to keep.

Press toward the challenges ahead
To make a difference for yourself
And others as well
By lending a helping hand
Letting others know you understand
For you have traveled the same road
And been the better for it.

It's time you knew
There is a friend
Who sticks closer than a brother,
A better friend than any other
Always knowing and caring
Your burdens bearing.
So, look to Him
As Lord and faithful friend to the end.
