Looking around the old home
House in complete disarray,
Thinking about the times now past,
My heart speaks to me today.
Memories brought back to the present,
As if they had not been tucked away,
I can hear you calling out my name,
I remember what you had to say.
Thoughts that were best forgotten,
Hurtful memories that haunt,
A love wrongfully given,
Dreams of a future were wrought.
Secrets kept well hidden,
A heart not mine to hold,
Yet you gave me your love,
Life together we'd mold.
I look away in blinding tears,
I regret that I returned today,
No, the hurt is not forgotten,
Memories are etched in past display.
As neglect has overtaken the house,
The yard is overgrown with weeds,
Love so created in deceitful ways,
You destroyed by untruthful deeds.
I leave behind the past,
Never to return again,
Things best left forgotten,
Memories thatís rife with pain.
