You promised that you'd walk close to me.

I feel such hurt as I journey here
You promised to carry me and stay near.

Why Lord?

My burdens are great how can this be?
When you promised that you'd carry me.

Why Lord?

Lord, Have I failed to trust in You?
Forgive me Lord, your love is true.

Why Lord?

You promised too when I was all alone,
I'd hear your voice, Child you are My own.

Why Lord?

Then I turned and looked around to see
Just one set of footprints following me.

Why Lord?

I heard a whisper, Child you are mine
I have been carrying you all the time.

Why Lord?

I felt your love Lord and power so strong,
I knew Lord, you were carrying me all along.
