Eventide
The sun makes its
slow descent in a blaze
And the world settles into the evening haze.
A quiet settles over the scene
As all nature breathes a sigh it seems
When eventide settles all around
With the evening sounds.
Birds twitter a soothing lullaby
Answering the whippoorwill's cry
And a turtle dove begins to coo.
In the distance a train whistle
Signals it is coming through
And a jet leaves its trail across the sky
Letting you know it came by.
The trees whisper as the leaves
Are brushed by a gentle breeze
And in the darkening sky
The twinkle of the evening star appears
And the moon peeks over the horizon
Spreading a silvery light
As eventide turns into night.
I am spellbound by the beauty I see
And my soul is filled with peace
In the quietude of the eventide
With an awesome feeling that God must be there
Walking with me in the night air.
