You are cordially invited
to a birthday gala,
In honor of our mother, a
lady dear,
Come join with us in the
celebration,
We will be so blessed by
your presence here.
Celebration in honor of
Velma on October 14, 2006,
Between the afternoon
hours of two and four,
Family will be waiting to
greet you,
Please join in sweet
family rapport.
Inviting Velma's nieces,
nephews,
First cousins and
grandkids too,
All of her children will
come,
She'll be so pleased to
see all of you.
Married to Wiley until his
death in '98,
Mother to five girls and
one boy,
W.D., June, Janice, Sylvia,
and Faye,
Margaret just joined dad
in Heaven's joy.
A mother to love and
cherish,
She is e'er dear to our
hearts,
Always there for her
children,
Of our lives she's a
treasured part.
Memories stored and we
will recall,
Many times have brought us
delight,
We treasure the gift of a
wonderful mom,
In our lives she's always
shown bright.
She still lives within a
short distance,
From the place she was
raised,
Everyone that has known
her,
Velma's goodness they
still praise.
Takes care of herself with
great pride,
At home she still loves to
dwell,
Visits her children,
enjoys each one,
And we all think she's
just swell.
Dressed and groomed by the
stroke of nine,
Her care of home and self
take priority,
Face and hair all preened
to perfection,
A daily must by her
esteemed authority.
Always a believer in neat
and clean,
Missing anything lately
brother or sister,
Mother won't let things
stack up you know,
She clears her path like a
mighty twister.
Oh my goodness what have
you done?
Something has happened to
your hair,
Scissor been snippin' away
I see,
It’s time for the magic of
a beautician's flair.
In-laws are favorites or
so it seems,
Better to you than us kids
I hear,
They hold silent when we
speak,
But they love you so much
mother dear.
You are so precious to all
of us,
Mother we will always
treasure,
The care and love
throughout the years,
Were gifts given without
measure.
Come on mother and share a
secret,
The question you cannot
nix,
Give us the answer on how
to make it,
To live to be a grand
ninety six!!!!
