Love On A
Carousel
I put on a pretty
dress,
Hurry off to the fair,
Heart beating rapidly,
I look for love to share.
I ride a horse on the carousel,
Dream of a love bestowed,
Round and round I ride,
Slowly; in a festive mode
I see you mount the steed,
Right across from the one I ride,
I can't believe the fortune sweep,
My love is close by my side.
In my heart I know 'tis true,
You will be mine 'fore night is done,
The music speaks to me and you,
A romantic flare has begun.
You smile e'er so sweetly,
Your eyes say words of love,
I feel your presence next to me,
You stand, towering above.
Hands reach to lift me,
Slowly my steed I dismount,
Pulse racing, eyes dancing,
Love I dare not discount.
Music blares; the ride comes to a halt,
I have been jolted from my dreams,
The fair is over; my fantasy gone,
Inside my lonely heart screams.
