~ An Hour With You~

At My Front Door

It’s been so long...Since I’ve seen you
I grow sadder and sadder, each day
At the door, I imagine you walking through
Yet if you did, would I know what to say

Would I simply open my arms to you
Crying out in joy and happiness....
With my emotions, running askew
With the hurt, becoming less

Would we tell one another, we are sorry
And forgive each other....In turn
Wanting to forget, those empty years
Taking only, the lessons we’ve learned

Could we pick up where it had ended
Going on with life....As before
These are things that I think on
As I imagine you at my front door

Only God knows, if you will return
As I search for faith ...to carry on
Until then my child, I’ll yearn
While I wait, from dusk till dawn
