~ An Hour With You~

I stand overlooking the empty chairs,
Where Grandma and Grandpa used to rest,
They were the happiness in my life,
Memories I recall with heart so blest.

I remember grandpa and old songs he sang,
Grandma gently rocking to the beat,
Of the ole fiddle he often would play,
As they spent time, shaded from the heat.

Still like young loves in ways,
Grandpa and his famous wink,
One look from my grandma,
Grandpa's face would blush rosy pink.

Ah I remember the better days,
The closeness I saw through the years,
Where I learned to stand on my own,
And it was not weakness to shed a few tears.

The rocking chairs bring back sweet memories,
Precious lessons lived and learned,
People sticking together in love,
Blessed devotion still I yearn.

Grandma and Grandpa sit upon another shore,
Years have passed since these chairs they shared,
But it seems like only yesterday's dusk,
When I heard their love zealously declared.
