Santa

When I was but a little child,
And Christmas came around,
It was too exciting just to wait,
Until Santa was in town.
I remember doing my very best,
To be a good little girl,
And to do everything just right,
While things were in a whirl.

When the day before Christmas came,
The excitement grew.
That night we went to bed early
Trying to get to sleep too.
Away in the middle of the night,
I thought I heard sleigh bells,
Afraid to move or even breathe,
I lay there in a spell.

I could hear all kind of sounds,
As I drifted off to sleep.
Waking early the next morning,
Santa came, I was asleep.
