~ An Hour With You~

While sitting beneath,
The old oak tree,
The thoughts in my mind,
Were of you and me.

For many years,
From day to day,
We sat together,
Not a word would we say.

The children grown up,
And gone away,
With tots of their own,
It fills their days.

Christmas, Easter,
And Thanksgiving too,
They all come by,
For an hour or two.

The house is so busy,
Kids running about,
Happy little faces,
Lay down for a nap.

We stand at the door,
Say our good byes
They go on their way,
My how time flies.

I look at you,
As you ramble around,
Smile on your face,
As you start to lay down.

We speak a few words,
Then you kiss my cheek,
That's all it takes,
Our love is so sweet.
