Overpowering Fear

The fear in your voice,
Terror filled eyes,
Ones adamant denial
It overwhelmingly belies.

What transpired my child,
To rape your heart with fear,
Panic quickly overcomes you,
When our presence is not near.

Who has left you, sweet angel,
Or made you feel so alone,
When security is not yours,
In the sanctity of your own home.

I promise this day and forever,
You, I'll never forsake,
I will always be there for you,
Deep fear we must overtake.

I live for the coming time,
When you look and not see,
But know in your little heart,
Close by a loved one will be.
